Conflux is dedicated to providing a nationwide programme of training and performance opportunities for 16-24 year olds interested in exploring the world of street arts, physical theatre and circus. It also seeks to match up young professionals with leading companies by providing placements and apprenticeships.

FREE WORKSHOPS AT CONFUX'S FESTIVAL - SURGE

SURGE STARTERS

A vital part of CONFLUX’s activity is its work with young people. At CONFLUX's festival SURGE, we will be offering a week - long programme of circus workshops at the newly reopened Briggait complex. We will be collaborating with YDance, Theatre Modo and Aerial Edge in the delivery of this programme, a highlight of which will be the SURGE Family Circus Day on Saturday 24th July - an opportunity for families to enjoy their first experiences of circus together. CONFLUX is also excited to be holding acrobatics and street theatre workshops at outdoor locations at The Merchant City Festival (see below).

DATES: Workshops are free and open to 14 years and over:  Monday 19th July -Thurs 22nd July, 10am - 5pm.

SURGE AT THE MERCHANT CITY FESTIVAL

As part of the SURGE at the Merchant City Festival CONFLUX is delighted to be offering a series of free workshops over the weekend of the 24thand 25th July.  (Open to any age from 4 upwards).

The workshops are taking place at the bottom of Brunswick Street  (just left of the Hotel) throughout the Saturday and the Sunday.  The workshops work on a drop in basis so feel free to come along and do as much as you like!

Saturday workshops:  STREET DANCE

Working with experienced performers and tutors, participants will be given the chance to learn some new moves and routines quickly under the guidance of some brilliant dancers.

TIMES: 12.30 – 1.30pm; 2- 3pm; 4- 5pm

Sunday workshops:  ACROBATICS

If you have ever fancied learning some spectacular acrobatic moves then this is your chance.  This is an opportunity to learn from artists who specialise in aero-balance and acrobatics.

TIMES: 2-3pm; 4.30- 5.30

EDUCATION & OUTREACH

Throughout March and April Conflux will be delivering workshops in a variety of schools and educational & community centres across Glasgow.  Working with a range of young people interested in learning new skills and challenging themselves is of one the core aims of Conflux. Tutors will be delivering projects in the North, West and East of Glasgow for hundreds of young people.

Some of the schools and organisations we are collaborating with include Whitehill Secondary, St Pauls Secondary and Lourdes Secondary, CLASS and Depot Arts.

Conflux Education and Outreach will be continuing to deliver high quality  work over the next 3 years, working to develop strong relationships with Schools Communities and local councils across Scotland.

 

USED TO BE SLIME WORKSHOPS

 

As part the education strand of Used To Be Slime, Conflux is delivering over 20 workshops in Street Theatre and Dance throughout Glasgow and other areas of Scotland. These workshops will be taking place in partnership with a variety of local councils and organisations.  Workshops have already taken place in South Lanarkshire schools and in schools in the East of Glasgow.  Conflux will also be delivering workshops to Toonspeak Young Peoples Theatre Company and the MacRobert in Stirling. Workshops are available throughout July, August and September.
